Flights (June-September)

Please book your flights between your home airport and Kodiak (airport code ADQ). Unless you tell us differently, we will make your flight reservations for the 30-minute flight between Kodiak and Larsen Bay on a local air taxi. Payment is made directly to the air taxi upon arrival. Plan on arriving in Kodiak in time to catch a 6:00pm flight to Larsen Bay the evening before your first day of fishing and departing Larsen Bay around 9:00am the morning after your last day of fishing. We recommend booking a flight departing Kodiak to home no earlier than the 11:35am. On Sundays, there is only one flight leaving Kodiak for Larsen Bay at 1:00pm and one flight leaving Larsen Bay for Kodiak at 1:30pm.

Please book your flights between your home airport and Kodiak (airport code ADQ). Unless you tell us differently, we will make your flight reservations for the 30-minute flight between Kodiak and Larsen Bay on a local air taxi. Payment is made directly to the air taxi upon arrival. Plan on arriving in Kodiak in time to catch a 3:00pm flight to Larsen Bay the afternoon before your first day of hunting/fishing and departing Larsen Bay around 10:00am the morning after your last day of hunting/fishing. We recommend booking a flight departing Kodiak to home no earlier than 12:00pm. On Sundays, there is only one flight leaving Kodiak for Larsen Bay at 1:00pm and leaving Larsen Bay for Kodiak at 1:30pm.

These are just some of the most common explicative's our clients have expressed upon disembarking from the plane at Larsen Bay. I have been to 18 countries and I have never seen anything like the flight here from Kodiak!"

It is just a 30 minute flight from the town of Kodiak to Larsen Bay lodge. But this is where the Larsen Bay experience really begins. Even before you unpack your bags or wet a line in Larsen Bay, you have experienced upon entry something truly memorable. Kodiak is more than twice the size of Rhode Island and quite mountainous. It is heavily forested at the northeast end of the island but almost treeless in the southwest part of the island where Larsen Bay Lodge is located. The island is deeply cut by sapphire-blue bays surrounded by rugged green mountains. In the summer when Kodiak is carpeted in deep shades of green it is easy to see why Kodiak Island is called the Emerald Isle. The lyrics of the song by James Taylor's "Sweet Baby James" may come to mind; "Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose."

With noses pressed to the windows and camera shutters busy clicking each view is only surpassed by the next one! Keep a sharp eye out for mountain goat, Kodiak Bears and sitka balcktail deer. In the bays it is not uncommon to see whales breaching. Also in the bays, purse seines are busy trying to surround schools of salmon and set nets can be spotted extending out from shore.

Before you are ready for the flight to end, Uyak Bay comes into view and the pilot begins to pull back on the throttle. Larsen Bay extends away from Uyak Bay in front of you as the distinctive red roofs come into view of the Icicles Seafood salmon cannery, (the oldest continuously operated canner y in Alaska). As the pilot lines up on the runway and adds a notch of flaps, Larsen Bay Lodge is directly below the end of the runway on the beach of Uyak Bay. The ground comes up quickly and soon you are on the ground and greeting the staff from Larsen Bay Lodge. It is then you realize - you just might be the happiest person on the planet!
